A Bit About Me
Since entering the healthcare field in 2007 as a Patient Care Technician, I have dedicated myself to patient care and professional growth. After earning my degree in Applied Science and becoming a Registered Nurse in 2012, I gained valuable experience in a cardiac step-down unit. I further advanced my education by obtaining my BSN from Chamberlain University in 2020. During the pandemic, I not only cared for COVID-positive patients but also assisted in spearheading our facility's visitation initiative, making us the first hospital to allow visitations for COVID positive patients.
At the end of 2021 I transferred into the Nursing Practice and Education department as a Clinical Nurse Educator, I have dedicated my efforts to supporting Care Units. I lead the New Caregiver Orientation and have developed a comprehensive Transition to Practice program for new nurses. My role focuses on enhancing the educational experience and ensuring our nursing staff is well-prepared to deliver high-quality patient care. Through my initiatives, I aim to foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

My career has been a continuous journey of learning and growth, equipping me for the next chapter as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the float department of a large inner-city hospital I gained diverse experience across various units, including medical-surgical, critical care, mother-baby, and hospice. This role allowed me to observe and engage with the care delivery team, providing me with valuable insights into the unique needs of different patient populations. My experience has equipped me with a keen understanding of the various barriers patients face within the healthcare system.
As an intermediate care nurse specializing in cardiology including recovery from cardiac procedures, and medical intermediate care I have honed my prioritization and assessment skills which are essential for recognizing changes in my patients. My experience assisting with COVID visitations provided me with valuable insight into the concerns and perspectives of families during the pandemic. I was honored to receive the Starfish Award and was nominated for a Daisy Award, signifying my commitment to compassionate patient care and upholding nursing standards of care.
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, I play a vital role in orienting new hires to our institution's standards of care and The Joint Commission (TJC) guidelines. I have developed a Transition to Practice program designed to support new graduate nurses in their adjustment to professional nursing. Additionally, I collaborate on the review and development of policies and procedures, and ensure that annual competency education is effectively implemented.
